Micki Jo West, a 19-year-old nurse's aide at St. Joseph State Hospital, disappeared on September 11, 1979, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was last seen leaving her home to catch a bus to work but never arrived. At the time, West had been receiving threats from Marvin Lee Irvin, the husband of her best friend. Fearing for her safety, Micki even carried a hammer in her purse.
