Thelma Melton, a 58-year-old woman from Tennessee, was last seen on September 25, 1981, while hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She had been hiking on a familiar trail near Deep Creek Campground with two friends when she unexpectedly walked ahead and disappeared.
