In the late summer of 1982, a 16-year-old girl named Kase Ann Lee vanished from Seattle, Washington. On the evening of August 28th, Kase, a young woman with blondish-red hair and blue eyes, told her husband she was walking to a nearby store to pick up items for dinner and never returned. At the time of her disappearance, she was living in the vicinity of South 208th Street and 30th Avenue South, an area situated between Kent and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Kase was last seen at approximately 11:30 p.m. near the airport. She was wearing a white blouse, red shorts, and blue sandals, and was carrying a brown purse with about $20 in cash. Distinctive features included scars near her nose, on her right cheek, and near one of her eyebrows. Two days after she was last seen, Kase's husband, Anthony "Pretty Tony" Lee, reported her missing. The circumstances of Kase's life were complicated; she was known to be a sex worker, and her husband was also her pimp. It's believed that she may have been a victim of abuse, as she would often have cuts and bruises but would not disclose who was responsible. Her brother has mentioned that a difficult home life led her into prostitution before she was even old enough to drive. In addition to her life on the streets, Kase had also been employed at a Photomat franchise. The investigation into Kase's disappearance took a dark turn as authorities began to suspect she may have been a victim of the then-unidentified Green River Killer, who was active in the Seattle area during that time. Many of the killer's victims were sex workers and runaways, fitting a similar profile to Kase. Years later, in 2001, Gary Ridgway was identified as the Green River Killer. During his confessions, Ridgway admitted to killing Kase Ann Lee. He claimed to have strangled her shortly after she disappeared and disposed of her body near a drive-in theater or behind a bowling alley. Despite his confession and attempts to lead police to her remains, Kase's body has never been found. Due to the lack of physical evidence, Ridgway was never charged with her murder, though he was convicted of killing 48 other women. Kase's case remains an open investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter in the history of one of America's most notorious serial killers. The absence of her remains has left her family without the closure of a proper burial and continues to be a source of unanswered questions.
