Gary Weaver, a 30-year-old resident of Coral Springs, Florida, was last seen on December 9, 1983, while on a business trip to the Bahamas. This was his third trip to the Bahamas, where he had been involved in various side jobs, including working on boats and planes, in addition to his regular work as a bulldozer operator. Before his disappearance, Weaver had called his wife, Donna, telling her that he would be home the next day to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
However, he never returned, and his family began searching for answers.
It was later revealed that Weaver had been on a plane with two other men, including Jairo Sanchez, another missing individual. The plane, a Beechcraft Queen Air, was associated with drug smuggling activities, leading investigators to believe that Weaver may have been involved in illicit operations. The plane was headed to Hog Key, a private island in the Bahamas, but it never radioed back after takeoff, and the flight was never confirmed. Despite efforts by Donna and authorities, including the Bahamian Defense Force, no trace of the plane or Weaver was found.
Weaver's disappearance is believed to be linked to a larger drug smuggling operation, and there are suspicions that he and Sanchez were murdered. Over the years, leads have surfaced, including cryptic remarks from a colleague involved in the smuggling operation, but no solid evidence or remains have ever been located. Weaver was eventually declared legally dead, but the case remains unsolved.
