Dennis Kaye Woods, a 45-year-old man, was last seen in Long Beach, California, on January 1, 1988. At the time of his disappearance, Woods had been living in an apartment on East 8th Street in Long Beach for nine years. Described as a white male with brown hair, blue eyes, standing about 5'10" to 5'11" and weighing around 165 to 170 pounds, Woods was known to wear several gold rings on both hands.
He also had a distinctive tattoo with his initials "DKW" on his left arm.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain mysterious. Not long before he went missing, a woman named Melinda McCollom moved into his apartment complex, and her boyfriend, Harvey Anthony Caron, became acquainted with Woods. Caron is considered a suspect in both Woods' disappearance and in other violent crimes. Witnesses reported that Caron was seen removing Woods' belongings from his apartment after he vanished. Additionally, Woods' red 1984 Chevrolet Camaro was later found in front of Caron's new apartment, raising suspicions. Caron claimed that Woods had sold him the car, yet he could not produce any proof, and it was later revealed that Woods had renewed his car insurance in February 1988, after the supposed sale.
Despite these suspicious circumstances, Caron was only convicted of car theft in 1990 and was never formally charged in connection with Woods' disappearance. Woods’ family continued to search for answers, but as of today, his whereabouts remain unknown, and the case is still classified as unsolved.
