On a cold December evening in 1988, 35-year-old Gary Wayne Akers vanished from his home in Union, Missouri, leaving behind a life that included a wife of eleven years and four children. On December 11th, at approximately 11:30 p.m., he told his wife he was heading out to a neighbor's house to borrow a chainsaw.
