On May 26, 1993, a distressing event unfolded in the waters near Cordova, Alaska, involving 30-year-old Pavel A. Ivanov. He and another crew member from the fishing vessel 'Sunrise' were suddenly washed overboard by powerful breakers in the Strawberry Channel. In the chaos that ensued, a search and rescue operation was launched. While the other crew member was located alive, the vast and turbulent waters offered no sign of Ivanov.
