Joanne Gaye Illerich, 38, was last seen on May 7, 1999, leaving her family's home in Knights Landing, California. She departed between 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and authorities believe she took a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with her. Illerich was driving a dark blue 1991 Mazda pickup truck with a white camper shell, but both she and the vehicle have not been located since that day.
Joanne was suffering from emotional difficulties at the time of her disappearance, including bouts of anger, delusion, and possible suicidal thoughts. She also suffered from physical pain in her neck and right arm, for which she sometimes wore a brace. Known to visit areas like Bucks Lake, Feather River Canyon, Point Reyes, and Sacramento, her regular haunts have provided no clues to her whereabouts.
