On the evening of June 8, 1999, in Lawton, Oklahoma, 21-year-old Michelle Deanne Crawford told her parents she was going to the movies with a friend. At the time, she was a junior at Cameron University, studying English on a full scholarship with aspirations of becoming a teacher. She also worked part-time at Gibsons' Department Store.
