The last time his mother saw him was on Thanksgiving, November 23, 2000, at her home in Shelby County, Tennessee. Larry, who was described as a transient, informed his mother that he was leaving to go to Paragould, Arkansas, where he planned to stay with friends. He was without a vehicle, as his driver's license was suspended, and typically relied on friends for rides, walking, or hitchhiking to get around. Larry was a white male, standing between 5'6" and 5'8" and weighing between 140 and 155 pounds. He had light brown, shoulder-length hair, brown eyes, and a beard at the time he went missing. Distinctive features included scars on his lower right arm and a history of multiple fractures to his jaw, left fingers, and lower arm. The narrative of Larry's movements after leaving his mother's residence becomes fragmented. Friends in Paragould, Arkansas, confirmed that he did arrive as planned. However, his stay was brief. According to these friends, two other acquaintances from Memphis, Tennessee, picked Larry up. This is the last confirmed sighting of him by those in Paragould. At the time of his disappearance, Larry was unemployed and carried a pay-per-month Cricket cell phone, which unfortunately only had service within the Memphis area, limiting the ability to track his movements beyond that region. The circumstances surrounding Larry Tabb's disappearance have led his family and law enforcement to suspect a tragic outcome. It is believed that he may have been carrying a check from a recent car accident settlement, which could have made him a target for foul play. The prevailing theory is that he may have been the victim of a robbery that ended in his murder. He suffered from advanced temporomandibular joint dysfunction, which caused significant pain in his jaw. Despite the passage of time, very little evidence has surfaced in his case, leaving his family with unanswered questions.
