On February 9, 2008, a 32-year-old man named Darrell Brian Tapio vanished from Tempe, Arizona. He had moved to the state from Dearborn Heights, Michigan, drawn by the prospect of a good job at a golf course, an activity he loved. His family understood his need for a fresh start. On the day he was last seen, he had spoken to his mother, apologizing for anything he might have done to hurt her, and also called his grandmother.
