In the cold of January 2012, the life of 45-year-old Juan Mendoza Gomez took a turn that would leave his family in a state of perpetual uncertainty. After being deported from the United States, Juan found himself in Agua Prieta, a Mexican city bordering Douglas, Arizona. It was from here that he made a fateful call to his family around the 30th of January. He informed them of his intention to cross back into the United States.
