On April 12, 2012, 16-month-old Fernando Limas and his 2-month-old brother, Emmanuel, were last seen in Orange, California, along with their mother, Arlet Hernandez-Contreras. The family was at the apartment of Shazer Limas, the boys' father, during what appeared to be a domestic dispute. Shortly after this incident, Arlet Hernandez-Contreras was found murdered, and both children were reported missing under suspicious circumstances.

Authorities strongly suspect Shazer Limas in connection with the deaths of both his sons and their mother. Investigations revealed a significant amount of blood at Limas' apartment, and there are fears that the children's bodies may have been disposed of in a dumpster. Despite thorough searches, including at landfills, the bodies of Fernando and Emmanuel have never been found. Limas was later convicted of three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Arlet and their two young sons. However, the case remains unresolved, as the boys' remains have not been recovered, leaving their fate a tragic mystery.
