In the spring of 1972, a group of eighteen children and four adults from a Paterson, New Jersey orphanage embarked on a weeklong camping trip in the sprawling woodlands of Bass River State Forest. Among them was twelve-year-old Donald Caldwell, a young boy with black hair and brown eyes.
