William Bradford Bishop Jr., age 39 at the time, went missing on March 2, 1976, from Elkmont, Tennessee. He was last seen at a sporting goods store in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The day prior to his disappearance, Bishop allegedly bludgeoned his wife, three sons, and his mother to death in their Bethesda, Maryland home. He then reportedly transported their bodies to North Carolina, where he buried them in a shallow grave and set them on fire.
