He was driving a green 1974 Toyota Celica, a loaner from the car dealership in Del City where he had recently started a new job. Accompanying him was an unidentified man who remained in the vehicle while Jimmy went inside.
He spoke briefly with his family, asking his mother to put a load of his laundry into the dryer so his work clothes would be ready for the next day. He mentioned he was taking his passenger somewhere and would be back in about half an hour. Jimmy Don Robinson was never seen or heard from again.
At the time of his disappearance, Jimmy was described as a Caucasian male, standing at approximately 5'6" to 5'7" and weighing around 140 pounds. He had thick, wavy dark brown to black hair and was known to have a mustache. His eye color was noted as gray or hazel, possibly changing in appearance with his mood or the weather.
