Elizabeth Kenyon, a 23-year-old special education teacher and former beauty pageant contestant, was last seen on March 5, 1984, leaving Coral Gables High School, where she worked. She had also been a finalist in the Miss Florida contest and held the title of Orange Bowl Princess in 1982. On the day she disappeared, Elizabeth was seen speaking to a security guard in the school's parking lot before driving away in her Chrysler convertible. Her car was later found abandoned at Miami International Airport, though she had not booked any flights or made plans to travel.
Her disappearance raised alarm when she failed to return home or report to work the next day. Family and friends quickly grew concerned, especially since it was uncharacteristic of her to leave without notifying anyone. Witnesses later recalled seeing Elizabeth at a gas station on March 8, talking to a man driving a Cadillac Eldorado.
Christopher Wilder, a known serial killer, was linked to her case. Wilder, who had dated Kenyon and had even proposed to her, became a prime suspect. Several witnesses placed him with her shortly before she vanished. Wilder went on a cross-country crime spree, abducting and killing women, and he died during a confrontation with police in 1984. However, despite the strong suspicion surrounding his involvement, Elizabeth Kenyon’s body was never found, and her case remains unsolved.
