Donald Bernard Kulas, 59, was last seen on May 11, 1985, after attending a retirement party in Two Harbors, Minnesota. The event was held for current and retired employees of the Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range Railway, where Kulas had worked as a carman. After the party, he was seen at the Moose Club, where he stayed until around midnight or 1 a.m. before leaving to return to his home near Bassett Lake, about 23 miles north of Two Harbors.
The following day, Kulas' vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Blazer, was found abandoned and locked along Lake County Road 2, about 13 miles from his home. Despite an extensive search using ground teams and tracking dogs, there was no sign of Kulas. The circumstances of his disappearance remain mysterious, as there were no indications of foul play or that he had left on his own accord. Kulas had a distinctive scar on his right cheek and was wearing light blue pants, a plaid shirt, and a charcoal-gray sweater jacket at the time he disappeared.
Despite efforts to find him, including air searches and intensive ground efforts, Kulas has never been found, and his case remains unsolved to this day. His family and authorities continue to seek answers.Last Seen: May 11, 1985
