David Alexander Marko, a 3-year-old boy, was last seen on April 17, 1993, in Burbank, California. He was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Norma Alicia Marko, sparking a decades-long search for both him and his mother. A federal warrant for her arrest was issued in February 1994, accusing her of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. It is believed that Norma may have taken David to Mexico, with possibilities of her traveling between Mexico and Texas, particularly near the border areas like Laredo. David has a distinctive birthmark on the inside of his left thigh, which might help in identifying him.
Norma Alicia Marko, David’s mother, was 34 years old at the time of the abduction. She has used several aliases, including Diaz, Garcia, and Limon, and has a brown birthmark under her left breast. Despite multiple leads and age-progressed images of both David and Norma, the case remains unsolved. Authorities believe they may still be in Mexico or moving between the U.S. and Mexico. The Burbank Police Department and the FBI continue to urge anyone with information to come forward in hopes of reuniting David with his family.
