Leslie Dawn Mashburn, a 23-year-old woman from Sanford, North Carolina, was last seen on December 10, 1997. She had been struggling with depression and told her mother that she felt like jumping off a bridge. Leslie lived less than half a mile from the Carbonton Dam Bridge, prompting extensive searches in the area, including the dam, nearby roads, and water, but no trace of her was found.
