Monserrat Rivera-Romero, a 3-year-old girl, was last seen on January 22, 2005, in Oxnard, California. She was abducted, along with her siblings Alejandra and Wesley, by their non-custodial father, Alejandro Rivera Avina. The authorities believe that Alejandro took the children to Mexico shortly after the abduction. A warrant for his arrest on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued in August 2005, but the family's whereabouts have remained unknown since then.
