Charles James Kaiser, a 72-year-old man from Michigan, was last seen on September 27, 2022, near Lander, Wyoming. He was hiking on the Blue Ridge Trail in the Louis Lake Loop area. Kaiser had gone ahead of his hiking partner while they were preparing for the hike. When his partner arrived at the trail’s end about 30 minutes later, Kaiser was nowhere to be found. He has not been seen or heard from since.
A large-scale search effort was immediately launched, involving search and rescue teams, helicopters, and tracking dogs. However, despite the extensive efforts and harsh weather conditions that hampered search operations, no trace of Kaiser was found. Authorities believe that he may have become lost or injured in the rugged terrain. The search was eventually suspended after nearly two weeks, leaving his case unresolved.
