Jason Lewis Kyles, a 34-year-old man, was last seen on February 2, 2013, near Lawndale Trail in Annadel State Park, Santa Rosa, California. Jason had been experiencing severe mental health issues prior to his disappearance, including symptoms that suggested he might have been suffering from a psychotic break. Witnesses reported seeing him walking naked and chanting in the park that day.
His clothing and shoes were later found discarded in the area, with unusual items such as Christmas ornaments and refrigerator magnets in the pockets.
Kyles had been exhibiting increasingly erratic behavior in the days leading up to his disappearance. He packed his truck with random items, including a bird bath and a guitar, and left a note for his wife claiming he was heading to New York to pursue a music career. His vehicle was later found abandoned near the park, and a resident reported seeing him in her barn, distraught and talking about sad horses. Despite extensive search efforts, including a six-day operation by authorities, no further trace of him has been found.
Jason's family believes he may have been suffering from a serious mental illness and could be living off the grid, possibly in the Santa Barbara area, where there have been unconfirmed sightings.
