In the late autumn of 1977, the quiet life of 70-year-old John William Spiers was interrupted by his sudden and unexplained disappearance from his residence in Chesterfield, Virginia. Mr. Spiers, a white male with graying hair, blue eyes, and a distinct, severe limp, was last seen at his home on Enon Church Road on November 22, 1977.
