Edith Irene Bonham, aged 77, was last seen on October 8, 1979, in Monrovia, California. At the time of her disappearance, she lived alone in a trailer park and was described as a reserved woman who mostly kept to herself. Bonham was last known to have attended a Senior Nutrition Activity Program (SNAP) meeting on October 17, 1979. The day after this meeting, her credit card was used to purchase gasoline in La Habra, California, which authorities believe she may have signed for herself.
Her son, concerned after being unable to reach her for some time, visited her home on November 10, 1979, where he found that she was missing. The circumstances in her home were unusual—her green 1970 Chevrolet Nova was gone, and uncharacteristically, there were dirty dishes left in the sink. Despite these signs, there was no evidence of a struggle. Although there is no hard evidence to suggest a crime, authorities believe that Bonham did not leave on her own. Her case remains unsolved.
Bonham was 5'2", weighed around 100 pounds, and wore eyeglasses at the time of her disappearance. She had pierced ears and wore full dentures, with one lower tooth missing. Investigators continue to seek information regarding her whereabouts.
