In the spring of 1985, a 32-year-old Vietnamese woman named Nhi T. Nguyen was living in the coastal city of Port Angeles, Washington. Her life was centered around her two children while her husband was away working in Alaska. Being of Vietnamese descent, she reportedly knew very few people in the local community.
