On the morning of April 18, 1988, 18-year-old Jennifer Lynn Floyd was at her job at Hancock Fabrics in Tupelo, Mississippi. Sometime around 9:30 a.m., she received a telephone call that visibly upset her. Coworkers witnessed her leave the store in tears, but no one knew the identity of the caller or the nature of the conversation that had distressed her so deeply.
