On a Halloween evening in 1990, 27-year-old Scott Edward McDonald vanished from his home in Kenai, Alaska. He had spent part of the evening at a friend's house before returning to his own residence on K-Beach Road. Upon his return, he filled a candy bowl, presumably for any trick-or-treaters that might stop by. This simple, seasonal act would be one of the last known things he did. After that evening, Scott was never seen or heard from again by his friends or family. His disappearance was officially reported to the Alaska State Troopers the following day. In the days that followed Scott's disappearance, his vehicle was found parked outside his home, offering no clues as to his whereabouts. At the time he went missing, Scott was described as a white male, standing around 5'11" to 6'0" tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds. He had brown, curly hair and blue eyes. He was possibly wearing a tan down jacket that had a distinctive rip between the shoulder blades, patched with tan-colored tape. Underneath, he may have had on a blue checkered shirt and a white t-shirt with "Jamaica" printed on it, along with blue jeans and white and purple Converse high-top sneakers. Scott also had several identifying marks, including scars on both of his hands, his back, his forehead, and near his lip, as well as a tan-colored birthmark on either his ankle or left shoulder. The circumstances surrounding Scott McDonald's disappearance have been described as suspicious, and his case is considered an endangered missing person case. With no activity on his personal accounts and no contact with loved ones for decades, the investigation remains open but unsolved. The Alaska State Troopers continue to be the investigating agency for this case. The passage of time has not brought answers for his family, and the evening he vanished remains a painful mystery. The case serves as a somber reminder of the many individuals who have disappeared, leaving behind unanswered questions and grieving families.
