Lindsay Marie Wells, a 22-year-old woman who was nine months pregnant, disappeared on March 29, 1999, from her home in Simi Valley, California. She was last seen asleep at the residence she shared with her fiancé and his mother. Wells missed a scheduled welfare appointment that morning and a doctor's appointment the next day, prompting her fiancé to report her missing on March 31.

Lindsay took only her wallet and keys, leaving behind her engagement ring and identification. She also left behind a four-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Investigators later learned that Lindsay, who did not own a car, never returned to pick up her last welfare check. Foul play is strongly suspected in her case, particularly due to her advanced pregnancy and the circumstances of her disappearance.

In 2001, a prisoner claimed that another inmate confessed to killing Lindsay, stating she had interrupted illegal activities at a methamphetamine lab, leading to her murder. However, this account was never verified, and her case remains unsolved.
