In the early hours of a November morning in 2002, a young man named Douglas Jared Foster vanished from the streets of Anchorage, Alaska. He had just celebrated a milestone, his 21st birthday, with friends. After the celebration on November 9, 2002, his friends dropped him off near the corner of 12th Avenue and C Street. Known to his loved ones as Doug, the 21-year-old Male was last seen on foot in this area. At the time of his disappearance, he stood between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slender build of 150 pounds. He was a Native American man with brown eyes and black hair that had distinctive red highlights. He was reportedly wearing a tan baseball cap and a brown suede jacket when he was last seen. From that moment on, Douglas has not been seen or heard from again. Douglas, born in Bethel, Alaska, on November 7, 1981, grew up in various places across the state, including St. Mary's, Platinum, Dillingham, Kotzebue, and finally Anchorage. He graduated from SAVE High School in 2001 and had a keen interest in math and science, often helping his sister with these subjects. Music was a significant part of his life; he loved playing the bass guitar and was part of a rock band he formed with friends. Before he went missing, Douglas worked as a pasta sous chef at Sea Galley, a job he enjoyed. His colleagues remembered him for his kind heart and quiet nature. He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle, part of a large family that cherished him. The weeks and months following Douglas's disappearance were filled with anguish and uncertainty for his family and friends. The Anchorage Police Department opened an investigation into his case, but few details have ever been made public. Despite their efforts, no significant leads have emerged to explain what happened to him after he was dropped off that night. His case remains an open and unsolved missing person investigation. More than a decade after he vanished, his family held a Celebration of Life Memorial Service in his honor. The story of Douglas Foster is one of profound loss and unanswered questions, a young man with a future full of promise who disappeared without a trace after a night of celebration, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
