Kayoko Tomoikari, a 40-year-old woman, was last seen on January 8, 2003, in Menlo Park, California. Suffering from depression at the time, she was taking medication for her condition, and authorities believe her mental health may have played a role in her disappearance. Two days later, her red 1996 Toyota Corolla was found abandoned in the parking lot of the San Francisco Presidio, less than half a mile from the Golden Gate Bridge. Inside the vehicle, police discovered a note suggesting the possibility of suicide.
Despite extensive searches of the Presidio area and near the Golden Gate Bridge, no trace of Tomoikari has ever been found. Given the location of her car and the note, it remains unclear whether she took her own life or if other circumstances contributed to her disappearance. Tomoikari was wearing a gray wool coat, brown Reebok sneakers, and a gold cross necklace at the time she went missing. Her case remains open and unresolved, with investigators continuing to seek any information regarding her whereabouts.
