Kelly Moriarty, a 38-year-old woman from Bradenton, Florida, was last seen on December 16, 2011, along with her girlfriend, Doris "Pat" Carter, at Carter's home in Plant City. The next day, both women, along with Kelly's car, were missing. Days later, on December 27, a severed leg was found washed ashore on a beach in St. Petersburg, which was later confirmed through DNA testing to belong to Kelly. Her vehicle was discovered abandoned on a highway in Parrish, Florida, approximately 30 miles from where she was last seen. Despite extensive investigations, no other remains of Kelly have been found, and Carter remains missing to this day.
Carter's daughter and son-in-law, who lived with her, were reportedly in the process of being evicted by Carter. This tension raised suspicions, especially as the couple has refused to cooperate with law enforcement and has not provided information on what might have happened. The family of Kelly Moriarty continues to seek answers, believing that both women were likely murdered, though no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
This case remains unsolved, and the Moriarty family is offering a reward for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
