On January 15, 2014, 15-year-old Clayton Lynn Mccarter disappeared from Bowling Green, Kentucky. At the time, he was a resident of the Potter Children's Home. Authorities believe Clayton left the home voluntarily with another juvenile resident, 13-year-old Rodney Scott. The two boys were last seen together in the 300 block of Chestnut Street. When he was last seen, Clayton was wearing a t-shirt over a collared shirt, pajama pants, and socks, but he had no shoes.
His head was shaved, and his left ear is pierced, though he was not wearing an earring at the time of his disappearance.
There is significant concern for Clayton's welfare due to his vulnerability. He has been diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and oppositional defiant disorder. Furthermore, he is mentally disabled and functions at the cognitive level of a five-year-old. Clayton has required psychiatric medication since he was a young child. Despite his challenges, Clayton is described as a talented artist who enjoys video games, basketball, and football. His family has described him as a "class clown" who had many friends.
Since their disappearance, there has been little information regarding the whereabouts of Clayton and Rodney. It is believed that they may have remained in the local Bowling Green area or possibly traveled to the Knoxville, Tennessee, area, where Rodney has family. The case is classified as an endangered runaway. Over the years, age-progressed photos have been released to show what Clayton might look like as he has gotten older.
