Xavier Gerald Tarrand was last seen on January 15, 2014, shortly after celebrating his 24th birthday. He was dropped off at the RaceTrac gas station located at the intersection of State Roads 50 and 33 in Groveland, Florida. At approximately 7:00 p.m., Tarrand indicated to his cousin that he had plans and would return in about fifteen minutes. He was last seen getting into a black 1997 Honda Accord with at least one other individual present.

Approximately thirty to forty minutes later, Tarrand called his cousin, asking to be picked up, but when his cousin arrived at the gas station, Tarrand was nowhere to be found. Subsequent attempts to reach him went unanswered, as his phone calls went to voicemail. Over the next few days, some of his personal belongings were discovered discarded off Highway 50 in Ocoee, further raising concerns about his welfare. The vehicle he entered was reported stolen and was later found burned in Apopka, with evidence suggesting that shots had been fired at that location.

Xavier Tarrand was affiliated with a local gang known as the Groveland Boys, and his disappearance is considered suspicious, potentially linked to conflicts between rival gangs. His case remains unsolved, and investigators suspect foul play may be involved. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing between 150 to 180 pounds, with notable tattoos that include phrases on his hands and chest.
