In the spring of 2014, Jennifer Cahill-Shadle, a 48-year-old mother of three, was navigating a period of significant transition in her life. After separating from her husband of 27 years in November 2013, she had moved from her family home in Ferguson Township, Pennsylvania, to live with her mother in Orwigsburg.
