Evelyn Throsby Scott, a 63-year-old woman from Los Angeles, was last seen on May 16, 1955. That afternoon, she and her husband, Leonard "Ewing" Scott, test drove a new car. Ewing later told the car salesman they were considering moving abroad. Evelyn, known for her weekly appointments with her hairdresser, abruptly stopped attending after her disappearance. On May 17, the salon received a call from a man, likely Ewing, canceling all future appointments.
