Alan J. Hirsch, a 26-year-old from North Miami, Florida, went missing on February 24, 1984, under mysterious circumstances. On the evening of his disappearance, Hirsch and his friend Russ Rolnick took a 16-foot orange and white ski boat out from Coconut Grove after dining at Monty Trainer's restaurant. Witnesses reported that the two men appeared intoxicated, possibly under the influence of drugs. Their boat was experiencing mechanical issues, including malfunctioning lights and a lack of fuel.
