Lashawnda Patrice Coates, a 10-month-old baby from River Rouge, Michigan, disappeared on August 1, 1991. The case began when Lashawnda was placed into protective care by Michigan's Department of Social Services after a disturbing incident where her father, Byron Ogletree, used her as a shield during an altercation with her mother, Samora Coates.
