Heather was last seen wearing a navy blue and white striped chambray shirt, size 9 stonewashed bell-bottom jeans, and black shoes.
She was also wearing a Mickey Mouse watch and several pieces of gold and diamond jewelry. Notably, she did not have any identification, credit cards, or cash with her, as her purse had been stolen shortly before she vanished. She was not known to have a vehicle at the time of her disappearance.
Heather's parents became worried when she did not return home after a few days, which they said was uncharacteristic of her, despite some reported troubles in her marriage. They officially reported her missing three to four days after she was last seen. The investigation that followed confirmed that Heather had attended the party in Rantoul. Authorities received a tip that she was dropped off near her family's home around 3:00 a.m. on May 27, but this information was never officially confirmed.
