In the spring of 2002, a 34-year-old man named Richard Lee Frye was in Stroud, Oklahoma, a small city in Lincoln County. He was staying at the local Best Western hotel and was reportedly in the process of working with a church to get into a treatment program. On April 1, 2002, he left the hotel and vanished. No one has reported seeing or hearing from him since that day. At the time he went missing, Richard, who also went by the nicknames Rich or the alias Richard Lee Catlin, was described as a white male, standing at five feet nine or ten inches tall and weighing between 170 and 180 pounds. He had brown hair, often styled in a short buzz-cut with a receding hairline, and hazel eyes. He wore glasses and sometimes had a small mustache. Richard had several distinctive tattoos that could aid in his identification. On his left upper arm, he had a tattoo of the word "Bartender" with what was described as an ugly rabbit. His chest bore the names of two women; "Jackie" on the right side and "Angela" on the left, though the tattoo of "Angela" was later covered up by another design. His forearms were also adorned with ink; a grim reaper on the left and a red heart over a white skull with a black arrow running through it on the right. He also had an unknown tattoo on his upper right shoulder and a scar with a torn muscle on one of his legs. The circumstances surrounding Richard's disappearance remain unclear, with very few details available to the public or to the investigators of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, who took the official report on his case years later on October 28, 2011. The initial information suggested he was seeking help and had connections with a local church, but his sudden departure from the hotel without a trace left his family and friends with no answers. The case was officially entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) on April 13, 2015. Despite the passage of time, the case of Richard Frye is still an open investigation, a quiet but persistent question in the small Oklahoma town where he was last seen.
