In the late afternoon of January 9, 2015, the life of 36-year-old Ivan Mercado of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, took a tragic and mysterious turn. At approximately 4:50 PM, Mercado was seen stopping his vehicle on the northbound side of the Edison Bridge, a span that carries Route 9 across the Raritan River, connecting Woodbridge and Sayreville.
