Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP29853) and 7 other sources

Ernesto Garcia, a 38-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran, went missing on January 31, 2015, after traveling from Brownsville, Texas, to Matamoros, Mexico, with his brother Jesus Garcia, an Army veteran. The two frequently visited their family in Matamoros but decided to return to the U.S. at 2 AM on February 2, 2015, a highly unusual time for them to drive. Neither brother has been seen since that night. Despite extensive searches, the case remains unresolved, and their whereabouts are still unknown.
