On April 20, 2015, David Alan Cohen, a 42-year-old man from West Virginia, was nearing the end of a drive to visit a friend in Lacey Township, New Jersey. Though familiar with the area, he decided to stop for the night, checking into the Red Lion Motel on Route 206 in Southampton. He reportedly spoke to his friend, letting them know he was tired and would see them the following day. Later that evening, he was seen leaving a local pizzeria. He was wearing a green t-shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. This would be the last confirmed sighting of David Cohen. When he failed to arrive at his friend's house the next day, his friend contacted the motel, only to discover that while David's truck was still in the parking lot, he was gone. His family was alerted, and he was reported missing to the New Jersey State Police on April 22.
The investigation into David's disappearance uncovered few leads.
His locked truck was found in the motel parking lot and contained many of his personal belongings, including his laptop, a new, unopened cell phone, and his suitcase with the motel room key inside. The only items that appeared to be missing were David himself and his keys. When investigators went to his motel room, they found it had already been cleaned and prepared for the next guest. Eyewitnesses and video surveillance from the pizzeria showed David was alone and seemed to be in good spirits, with nothing appearing out of the ordinary. David is described as a Caucasian male with hazel eyes who was bald and had a mustache at the time he went missing. He stands between 5'7' and 5'8' tall and weighs around 160 to 170 pounds. He has several distinguishing tattoos, including a thick cross on his lower right abdomen and a dark-colored wreath on the right side of his chest, as well as a scar on his abdomen. Authorities have also noted that he has a severe medical condition that requires treatment. The case remains a mystery, with a loving sister continuing to search for answers about what happened to her brother. The New Jersey State Police have asked for the public's help, at one point specifically requesting that hunters in the Burlington and Ocean county areas be vigilant and report anything unusual.
