In the early summer of 2015, 20-year-old Michael Alan Sutherland, a student at Montana State University, returned to his family's home in Shoreline, Washington, for summer break. Friends and family described him as a happy and easy-going person, and his return home had been uneventful. On the evening of June 26, 2015, Michael was last seen by his family at their residence. He said goodnight to his mother, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. However, sometime after midnight, Michael left the house and has not been seen or heard from since. He departed without his wallet, identification, or debit cards. His cell phone was also inactive after midnight on the night he disappeared. Michael, also known as Mike, is a Caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes, standing between 5'5" and 5'8" tall and weighing around 135 to 145 pounds. He has a small mole on his cheek and pierced ears. At the time of his disappearance, he was believed to be wearing a t-shirt or tank top and Brooks brand running shoes. The hours and days following Michael's disappearance were filled with confusion and growing concern. With no personal belongings to aid him and no communication, his family's worry intensified. An extensive search was launched, with family, friends, and law enforcement agencies combing the Shoreline area. Hundreds of flyers were distributed throughout the greater Seattle region, and a social media campaign was initiated to spread awareness of Michael's case. Despite these efforts, no significant leads or confirmed sightings have emerged. There were unconfirmed reports of sightings in various Seattle neighborhoods, but none led to a breakthrough in the case. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking and camping, which led some to speculate he may have gone into the wilderness. However, there has been no evidence to support this theory. The day before he went missing, he was reportedly seen on a bike trail with an unidentified young woman, but this encounter also failed to provide any substantial clues. The King County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Michael Sutherland's disappearance as an active missing person case. The lack of evidence and clear leads has made the investigation incredibly challenging, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. His loved ones continue to hold out hope for his return, urging anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward. The case serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the anguish experienced by families of the missing, who are left to navigate a world of uncertainty. The investigation into what happened to Michael Sutherland remains open, a quiet but persistent search for answers in a case that has tragically gone cold.
