Prior to his disappearance, Ismael had traveled from Piedras Negras, Mexico, to Eagle Pass, Texas, as part of a group heading toward Houston. After walking for several days, part of the group he was with was apprehended by Border Patrol agents, but Ismael managed to evade capture and continued the journey on his own.
He was last known to be in a hilly area, but after that, no further information about his whereabouts surfaced.
