On the morning of November 16, 2015, Peggy Anne McGuire, a 29-year-old mother and recently licensed practical nurse, dropped her son off at his school near Eufaula, Oklahoma, and was never heard from again. Her family describes her as a devoted mother who would never have voluntarily left her child. After leaving the school, she spoke with her stepfather about plans to build a deck on her home and was reportedly excited about the project. Later that morning, she also spoke to a man she was dating, who tried to call her back shortly after but could not get through. Concern mounted when Peggy, who was also a caring owner of numerous animals including dogs, goats, and cattle, failed to show up for her niece's ball game that evening. Her disappearance was completely out of character and immediately triggered alarms among her loved ones. The day after she vanished, Peggy's truck was found abandoned in the parking lot of a rural bar called T&J's Ice House, about 10 miles from her home. Surveillance footage from 5:20 a.m. captured the truck pulling into the lot and an unidentified man getting out and walking away into the darkness. According to her family, Peggy did not frequent the bar. The investigation soon uncovered troubling evidence at the home she shared with her son's father, Thomas McIntosh. Investigators found traces of blood on a couch on the back porch, as well as reddish stains on a leather glove in McIntosh's truck and in the bucket of a front-loading tractor on the property. Family and friends reported that Peggy had a contentious and allegedly abusive relationship with McIntosh, had previously filed for a protective order against him, and was making plans to leave him for good around the time she disappeared. Despite years of investigation and searches, including a recent search of a pond in Muskogee County based on a tip that yielded no results, Peggy's case remains unsolved. Since she was last seen, there has been no activity on her cell phone, credit cards, or Social Security number, leading investigators to suspect foul play. The unidentified man seen leaving her truck has never been identified, and no one has been named a suspect in her disappearance. The case is an enduring mystery marked by a mother's sudden absence and a family's prolonged anguish. Law enforcement agencies, including the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, continue to seek any information that might lead to a resolution for a family desperate for answers and a son who deserves to know what happened to his mother.
