Robert Allen Meredith, a 39-year-old Marine Corps veteran, disappeared from Evansville, Indiana, on September 12, 1979. On the day of his disappearance, Meredith had an argument with his wife, after which she asked him to leave their home. He left and was never seen again. His wife later claimed to have received letters and collect phone calls from him, allegedly from Tampa, Florida, but no one else had contact with him, and there was no evidence to verify his existence after he left.
