Karen Koppel, a 35-year-old woman from Chicago, Illinois, was last seen on April 26, 1980. At the time of her disappearance, Karen was in a troubled relationship with Ben Stein, a 67-year-old married man with alleged ties to organized crime. The relationship deteriorated after Karen realized that Stein had no plans to leave his wife. The situation escalated when Karen became pregnant and was pressured to have an abortion.
