Nigel Jay, a 34-year-old man, was last seen on April 7, 2013, in Oakland, California. On that evening, he was supposed to return his rental car and deliver medication to his father, but he never completed either task. His last known whereabouts were in the 1900 block of Broadway, where he went to drop off keys for a friend. His disappearance raised alarm when he did not return home or make further contact with anyone.
Three days after he was reported missing, his rental car was found abandoned near 98th Avenue in Oakland. The vehicle was unlocked and in good condition, with no signs of a struggle. Jay's phone and bank accounts have not been used since the day he vanished, and investigators consider his disappearance suspicious. At the time of his disappearance, Jay was working as a chef in Alameda and also as a cook at a homeless shelter in Oakland.
