Kimberly Gomez-Coronado, a 6-year-old girl from Canton, Mississippi, was last seen on September 7, 2014. She was abducted along with her three sisters—Evelin, Mendy, and Jackelyn—by their non-custodial mother, Sonia Coronado, and their stepfather, Fernando Pelayo Coria. The abduction occurred after the children had been placed into state custody earlier in the year due to severe abuse by their stepfather, who was charged with child abuse. Sonia was also charged with felony child neglect but had agreed to testify against Fernando. Instead of complying with the legal arrangements, Sonia and Fernando fled with the children.
Authorities suspect that the family may have traveled to Mexico, as both parents have ties to the country. Felony warrants for kidnapping were issued for Sonia and Fernando on September 12, 2014. Despite numerous efforts to locate them, the whereabouts of Kimberly and her sisters remain unknown. Investigators continue to urge anyone with information to contact the authorities, as the case remains unsolved.
